Things to remember

Remember that, to create the Setup Boot disks you do not have to run Windows 2000.A "Bootdisk" directory resides in the root of the Windows 2000 Setup CD. The two utilities generate the four Setup Boot floppies from this directory. You have to run the 32-bit version of this utility called makebt32.exe if you are booted into Windows 9x.You have to use the 16-bit version called makeboot.exe, in case of DOS or Windows 98 Startup Floppy that has access to the CDROM.

You must use specific disks. The disks created from the Windows 2000 Professional CD cannot be used with Windows 2000 Server and vice versa.

Always select safe mode prior to start a computer from a CD or floppy disks.

The Emergency Repair Disk or Recovery Console can be used after starting a disabled computer from floppy disks.

The commands, which are used to create Setup boot disks with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and earlier versions, do not work with Windows 2000.
