Step By Step Procedure To Build Computer Armoire

When I visited last time to my uncle’s place I saw computer and books on the table. When I entered his room this time, I was surprised to see all being removed and an armoire was kept in that place. I thought that my uncle has sold the computer and books were kept inside armoire along with his other things. While, I and my uncle sipping a cup of tea, I asked him, about the computer. He then, opened the armoire doors and revealed his new small computer world!!! I was little bit surprised to see how nicely he arranged the Monitor, System Box (CPU), Speakers, UPS, books, Printer etc, inside that armoire. After I returned home, I searched for information on Computer Armoire, in my computer through the dictionary software that I had installed. I searched Internet, for more information on computer armoire in search engines.

What is Armoire

The above said story itself tells what an armoire is. According English dictionary the word “Armoire” stands for a large wardrobe or cabinet which was originally used to keep weapons, arms etc. securely. It was basically made out of wood. Later it was made out of steel also. One can design wooden armoire on their own, if they know carpentry to some extent. One can change the ordinary wooden armoire into a computer armoire, with little modifications to the existing armoire. We need to make provisions for keeping keyboard, mouse, along with the provisions to keep books and other things. It is also better, if there is a provision for hanging shirt hangers also. The cabinet doors must be fixed such that it opens fully to the sides of cabinet at 270 degrees. One can use cherry wood and cherry veneered panels to construct the armoire. Any way one can also use other types of wood which suits the armoire. It is better to make sure that the armoire can be easily dismantled, and reassembled if one has got plans of shifting the residence or office.

Cherry veneered panels & Armoire made for each other

It is better, if one can purchase an ordinary empty armoire and construct the inner parts easily, rather than constructing the entire armoire. The inner part of armoire will be constructed out of cherry veneered panels. Help is required for those who are new to carpentry work, although they have learnt how to make use of carpentry devices. Wood may break or drilled holes becoming larger than expected are some of the situations known to be handled out, in order finish the work properly.

One can begin the process of constructing armoire, by planning out through drawings. In drawing, correct planning, which specify the correct measures, must be done. Otherwise it will lead to confusions in the development stages of the armoire. As a result of confusion, one may get a different shaped armoire!!! So, after planning thoroughly, one can start the process of constructing armoire in real. Or one can give the planning done to the carpenter and get the armoire done. If one wants to construct the armoire by himself, then he can do so, by following given steps, correctly.

Step by step procedure to build your own armoire

1. Begin by cutting the wood of 1 inch thick, for stiles and rails of doors and case sides. Cut the wood as per planned measurements given in the drawing.
2. Use a router edge guide and spiral bit to carve out the mortises. Rout the panel grooves in the edges of the stiles and rails and square the mortises with a sharp chisel.
3. Equip the table saw with dado blade, cut the rail tenons and use a stop block to clamp to the gauge to position the rails.
4. Assemble the frames one by one correctly. Check to see whether any gap left in between the joints after assembly is completed. Proceed to assemble the doors, after assembling all the frames.
5. Now prepare for inner parts, as per planned drawings. The inner parts are constructed out of Veneer cherry panels. Cut the panel to prepare a board for keeping keyboard, mouse.
6. After preparing boxes and boards fix them inside armoire. Before drilling holes for fixing, make sure that marking are done properly inside armoire. Use wood wax to close unwanted holes or any broken things nicely.
7. After making sure that all inner parts fixed, rub everything once with sand paper and be sure to clean all sand with a cloth, before applying the varnish for ever lasting shining. You can also apply wood polish to make it even more shining.
