Important Computer Maintainance Tips & Tricks

1) More the RAM more the speed. Latest software requires more RAM. Hence while purchasing a computer go for higher RAM option.

2) If your system has RAM less than 64 Mb, don't go for Multi tasking. Open one program at a time.

3) While using programs like games & desk top publishing always turn off background activities such as messaging software & prompts.

4) The more programs in the start up menu often slow down the system. Remove unnecessary programs from start up menu.

5) To improve efficiency and to reduce wear & tear, frequently defragment your hard disk.

6) Always use the disk clean-up tool to clean the temporary files.

7) Never close the window by clicking little 'x' in the top right hand corner of the window to avoid bits of program floating in the computer memory, instead close the window by using close or exit command under the file menu. It will definitely improve the performance.

8) Take care not to flood your system with unnecessary software. Uninstall the programs which are not in the use.

9) Install antivirus program and schedule the full computer scan once a week.

10) If you want to switch between 2 applications, press ALT & TAB keys simultaneously. If more than 2 applications are running simultaneously, press ALT key continuously and toggle the TAB key.

11) Press Windows key, to open the START menu. Press Windows key and E key simultaneously, to open the Windows explorer. Another way to open Windows explorer is to right click on START button.

12) Tips on buying a computer - If you are a typical Home user and going for new computer system, don’t buy the latest system. Instead, go for the system which was launched six months ago. This will save you lot of money and will give you good value for money.
