RAID 0 Data Recovery

Raid 0 data recovery condition may occur. In that case Raid data recovery software alongwith Raid data recovery disk form the important tool to recover data. Data Recovery and File recovery software is must to recover data. Whenever hard disk crashes, user tries for data restoration. Crashing of hard disk can happen any time. It is better to be prepared as your data is at stake.

Crashing hard disk is the common problem. In this case the valuable data has to be restored. People use Raid configuration to preserve data. RAID improves speed and data availability. Data safety is higher in case of RAID systems.

Many people don't back up RAID systems. This is not correct. Please note that RAID systems are 'fault tolerant' –however they're not 'fault proof'. RAID is the abbreviation of the Redundant Array of Intelligent/Inexpensive Disks. But there are different RAID types.

RAID Level 0 configuration

In Raid 0 type, higher speed is achieved by compromising the fault tolerance. All the disk devices are organized alternatively so that blocks are taken equally from all disks alternatively, in order to reach higher efficiency.Since the probability of finding a block of a file is identical for all disks, there are force to work simultaneously thus making the performance of the Meta disk almost 10 times that of a single disk.

RAID Level 0 or striping is optimized for performance at the expense of fault tolerance. In RAID 0 configuration the data is organized in multiple drives. If RAID 0 configuration is consisting of 10 x 80 GB drives, the array size will be 800 GB. Here data is copied in multiple drives at the same time. This increases the speed.

As the data is organized across multiple drives, it can be accessed faster. This results in higher speed.
The disadvantage of RAID Level 0 configuration is loss of fault tolerance. It increases risk of data loss in case of failure of any drive in RAID 0 configuration.

RAID Level 1 configuration

Here higher data security is achieved by mirroring the data. This configuration gives higher reading performance. But writing performance is poor, as it has to write the data at multiple locations to form the data mirroring. That is why we don’t get storage advantage. For example, if there are 10 x 80 GB drives, the array size will be 80 GB only.

RAID boosts the speed of the system as well as it improves availability of the data, it also increases the chances of the data Recovery & data protection than non-RAID disk Systems. The disk management & the data distribution across them is very complicated.

To recover lost data one has to require the storage device. There are various RAID levels utilized for different applications, depending on the tolerance of the fault, speed of the access, and the average size of the files being stored.

Reliability of the RAID system

Now let us understand what is the reliability of the RAID system? Whenever you are going for redundant system, the complexity of the system increases. Sometimes redundant systems fail, due to wrong installation and commissioning. This can result in data loss.

In spite of the well designed RAID system , human error may occur. The more complex the system the more chances of the human mistakes. RAID 0 system is the most storage efficient & the fastest but it is not safest. Hence it is recommended to have data back up for RAID 0 configuration. RAID 0 configuration is fault tolerant. It is not fault proof. Fault can occur.
