What is new in the Windows Vista: Comparision with Windows XPMicrosoft claims lots of new features have been included in Vista. But not much more seen in the beta 1 version, nor there is a different look and feel from Windows XP. The obvious question would arise in anyone's mind, windows vista and windows xp what is the differences? The main difference is that icons and folders appear as translucent images that look attractive when you use Windows Explorer to search documents.
The new feature like desktop search with a "Virtual Folder," which stores information about documents, images or other file searches you've searched. These stored searches repeat automatically every time you open the folder. Microsoft has promised to add many new Vista's end-user features in the beta 2 version. Microsoft isn't going to give customers wide choice after they will stop selling XP, and most of the people are almost buying 64 bit now on new PCs there won't be valid reason for them getting the 32 bit XP or 64 bit XP. As Microsoft gradually stops the updates for XP many people tend to switch over to Vista. Vista is still in the betas its not possible to tell what its going to be like exactly alot of software changes drasticaly after beta testing is completed. Hope that the security features are not likely to be worse than XP. Minimum PC requirements to run and install Windows VistaVista's graphical interface consumes a lot of processor power, therefore a stand-alone graphics card with DirectX 9.0 is recommended, along with at least 512 MB of DRAM. The beta version of Vista ran slowly on test PC with an Athlon XP 2800 processor and 1 GB of DRAM with an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card. However, Microsoft assured the improvements for a faster, smoother version before release of beta 2. Vista's 64-bit applicationsIn addition to a 32-bit version, Microsoft will also offer 64-bit versions of the operating system, sold separately or preinstalled on new 64-bit PCs and servers in the second half of 2006. But it will be a long way before a 64-bit system is needed to test on modern applications. Don't forget that you will need a DVD drive to install Windows Vista yourself, as the operating system does not come on a CD.
